Take a tour of Neave Brown’s extraordinary Alexandra and Ainsworth estate, constructed as public housing between 1972 and 1978 on a challenging constrained by the busy West Coast Main Line to the north.

Arranged as a series of three parallel East-West blocks bounded by Boundary Road, Loudoun Road and Abbey Road – the development features an enormous pair of rowed terraces which create a continuous pedestrian walkway, known as Rowley Way.

Murphy’s tour will explore the surrounding environs and delve into the unique details of this exemplar high-density public housing scheme, accessing the well-preserved original interiors of several apartments.
