Peer Review

With a support network of incredible volunteers, Peer Review sessions were opportunities for groups to meet, share work and ideas, and a digital platform for students to connect.

In the aftermath of the global pandemic and the major disruption to traditional architectural education, schools everywhere began experimenting with new ways to teach and collaborate. Peer Review emerged from that moment: a collaboration between the Architecture Foundation Young Trustees and the London Architecture Schools Collective that connects students and alumni across the UK, and far beyond, through digital, cross-institution studios built on care, friendship and solidarity.

With the support of an incredible volunteer network, Peer Review sessions give small, themed groups a space to meet online, share work and swap ideas. Since the first edition we have matched more than 100 students from nearly 30 architecture schools worldwide, breaking down institutional walls and opening new windows onto each other’s pedagogy.

The first year ran as an intensive eight-week programme alongside university semesters; later editions expanded into monthly reviews, a book club, CV-and-portfolio workshops, and an end-of-year summer party. Spring 2023 introduced the theme “re-designing re-building,” encouraging participants, against a backdrop of overlapping global crises, to imagine resilient and regenerative architecture.
