Winner announced in Institute of Psychoanalysis competition

Casswell Bank Architects triumph in AF competition directed at emerging practices

Casswell Bank Architects has won the Architecture Foundation competition for the remodelling of Byron House, the London headquarters of The Institute of Psychoanalysis.  The practice, which was founded last year, won out against a shortlist of Roz Barr Architects; Matheson Whiteley Architects & Simon Jones Studio; and Timothy Smith and Jonathan Taylor LLP.  The project involves the provision of a new lecture hall, seminar rooms and children's consultation rooms within the former Edwardian dairy building that serves as The Institute's headquarters.  The competition was restricted to practices that had set up in the past ten years and assessed by a jury that included Jeremy Dixon (Dixon Jones Architects), Tim Pitman (Pitman Tozer Architects), Hanif Kara (AKTii), Ellis Woodman (The Architecture Foundation), and representatives from The Institute of Psychoanalysis.
