Lynch Architects has recently completed adjacent office and residential buildings as part of Land Securities' ongoing redevelopment of its substantial property holdings on London's Victoria Street. Replacing a 1960's slab-block with a more open ensemble, the project enables new links between Victoria Street and its hinterland to the north. This commitment to permeability also informs the provision of opening windows, balconies and extensive roof terraces.
The buildings seek to bring a new theatricality to Victoria Street while respecting the prominence of the adjacent Westminster Council offices. The artist Rut Blees Luxemburg has collaborated with the practice on the creation of a photographic frieze running along the Council offices' flanking wall.
Patrick Lynch, Director of Lynch Architects, will lead a tour of the site, which will include the foyer of the residential Kingsgate House, and one of the office floors of the commercial Zig-Zag Building.
The tour is free but places are restricted to members of the Architecture Foundation. Please check that you or your practice are Architecture Foundation members before booking.
