Dow Jones Architects has recently completed the ambitious remodeling of the crypt of Christ Church Spitalfields to provide spaces for performance and the parish, as well as a café, wc’s and a kitchen able to service events in the nave.  The practice’s competition winning scheme introduces a language of oak joinery within the existing brick and stone shell and a new York stone floor which maintains a sense of continuity with the city outside.  In parallel with its remodeling of the crypt, Dow Jones has overseen the restoration of Christ Church’s 1735 organ, which can also be viewed as part of the tour.

Conducted by Biba Dow and Alun Jones, the tour is free to AF members but attendees are invited to make a £2 voluntary donation towards the cost of Christ Church’s restoration.

You or your practice must be a member of the Architecture Foundation to book a ticket on this tour. All bookings will be checked so please make sure you are a member first.
