Poplar Summer School

July – August 2014

We ran a week-long series of creative workshops with a group of 16-19 year olds to investigate the local built environment. During the week the group explored and recorded local myths, narratives and perceptions of the area. They used their research to produce a series of alternative audio guides to well known architectural sites, including Lansbury Estate, Chrisp Street Market, Robin Hood Gardens and Balfron Tower. The participating group will launched these at an event in Poplar in October. In the meantime, they are available to listen to here.

If you would like more information please contact Aislinn White.

This programme is in partnership with Spotlight, a creative youth space in East London, and is funded by Arts Council England.

Poplar Summer School collaborators include Alan Cusack (IOE, University of London), Aislinn White (The AF), Benji Fox (NUIK) and Dom Harwood (toot!), Laura Smith, Maria Lisogorskaya (Assemble) and Suzanne O'Connell (The Decorators)
