The Architecture Foundation and the British School at Rome launched a two year programme of exhibitions and lectures in London and Rome in 2008. The programme, initiated by the British School at Rome, presents a series of solo exhibitions and lectures of the six practices at the British School at Rome between June 2008 and February 2010. The objective is to launch a discussion on the influences, experiences and expectations of the younger generation of architects in the two capitals by pinpointing and comparing their working methods and approaches.
Three London practices have been selected to produce solo exhibitions in Rome, along with three Rome architects, that represent different ways of dealing with architectural research and practice in the two cities. This will culminate in a series of discussions in London in 2010 involving all the architects that took part in the project.
The London architects are AOC, Carmody Groarke and Witherford Watson Mann.
The Rome architects are MaO, IaN+ and Andrea Stipa.
The programme is curated by Marina Engel and Gabriele Mastrigli and organised in collaboration with the Fondazione MAXXI and the Ministero per i Beni e le Attività Cultural in Rome.
