Massimiliano Fuksas advocates architecture "of the emotions". His astonishing new building for the New Milan Trade Fair, which covers an area of two million square metres, realises this idea at a huge scale. Described by Fuksas as one of "the cathedrals of new society" it includes a light, "veil-like" roof 1300 metres long. Continuously undulating, the shape, "as in a natural landscape, is never repetitive, giving the visitor an animating, continuously varying perspective."
