At the time of this exhibition, the cool, calm, modern lines of Rick Mather’s architecture were best know to Londoners in the interiors of his Zen restaurant. Yet, Mather’s design abilities have been applied with great skill to a range of major public and private buildings in UK. Uncharacteristically perhaps, for the early 1990s, Mather’s architectural practice was actively engaged in the design of public buildings, student accommodation and teaching institutions for Keble College, Oxford and the University of East Anglia in Norwich. The exhibition featured these new projects as well as recently completed designs for offices and private homes.
In association with the exhibition Rick Mather gave a lecture at the AF on 24 February 1993.
The exhibition coincided with the publication of “Rick Mather: Urban Approaches” by Hugh Pearman published by Fourth Estate and Wordsearch.
