Emerging pratice, PUP Architects, has won the commission for the first annual Antepavilion, an experimental rooftop structure which will stand on the roof of Columbia and Brunswick Wharf in Hackney. The practice describes its project, named H-VAC, as "a playful subversion of planning legislation". While conceived as a notional dwelling, it has been closely modelled on a rooftop air vent with the aim of exploiting permitted development rights. The practice will lead construction of the project over the summer. The Antepavilion project is operated by the Art House Foundation and competition sponsor Shiva Ltd with support from the Architecture Foundation.
