The Living Unit is a three-storey demountable micro-home developed by London based engineers AKT II together with the internationally acclaimed Slovenian architects OFIS. It is currently on show as part of the London Design Festival 2018 at the White Collar Factory in Old Street, where it can be visited until 28th September 2018.
It has previously been exhibited in the Salone del Mobile, in Parco Sempione, Milano, in April 2017, and at Ljubljana Castle in summer 2017.
The Living Unit has been donated to the Architecture Foundation by AKT II and is being auctioned to raise funds to support The Architecture Foundation's work.

Description
The basic unit (4.50m x 2.50m x 2.70m) offers accommodation (with kitchenette, toilet, bed and seating) and joins horizontally or vertically to create a twins, triplets or similar assemblage. The basic unit can be inhabited by 2 people with a double bed, wardrobe, table and chairs, with the option to install a bathroom and kitchenette. The item for auction contains three basic units, which can be combined together and includes two bedrooms, a kitchenette, a toilet and sink and living area.
The structure is a timber frame, reinforced using plywood boards. The Unit can be fixed on the ground either by steel anchors or removable concrete cubes. The interior treatment is changeable and flexible.

OFIS is a Ljubljana based practice working on industrial, residential and cultural projects around the world. The practice was founded by Rok Oman and Špela Videčnik in 1998 both graduates of the Architectural Association in London.

Delivery & Installation Conditions
Delivery and installation are not included with the purchase of the item.
The winning bidder is expected to work in co-ordination with a contractor and installation engineer to organise and schedule the shipping and installation.
The Architecture Foundation is able to put the winning bidder in contact with the installation team used for the current exhibition but the winning bidder is also able to organise their own delivery and installation contractors.
Delivery:
If the winning bidder can accept the delivery of the item on 29th September 2018 (within the confines of London) then delivery is free.
If the Living Unit is required to be delivered elsewhere in the UK then delivery costs are estimated at around £1,400, to be confirmed once location is known.
Storage:
Storage for the Living Unit has been organised for the item near London for 2 months.
If the winning bidder requires the Living Unit to be in storage for longer than 2 months then the costs for this extension must be covered by the winning bidder.
Installation:
The installation of the Living Unit should be done in co-ordination with a contractor and installation engineer.
The costs for the installation of the Unit at the desired location of the winning bidder have been estimated at £8,000. This is a general estimate and should be formalised in co-ordination an appropriate engineer to assess the need for extra foundations once the location of the delivery is finalised.
The appointment for the installer and engineer will need to be undertaken by the buyer directly.
