Book Week: Housing Atlas: Europe - 20th Century, presented by Mark Swenarton
The Housing Atlas documents a vast range of 20th century European housing projects, both familiar and unfamiliar. Chronologically ordered, the book acts as a survey of key housing projects, produced by a pan-European team of leading scholars. Complete with contextual essays, the studies each include a history and analysis of the projects and the drawings are presented in a way that makes them readily comparable.
Mark Swenarton is both a historian and a critic of architecture. As an architectural historian he has written extensively on twentieth-century housing. As an architectural critic, he set up the monthly review Architecture Today, which he co-edited from 1989 to 2005, before becoming head of the architecture school at Oxford Brookes University.
