The Architecture Foundation’s Young Network is excited to announce an open call for four new young trustees to join its existing members. The AF Young Trustees exist alongside the Architecture Foundation specifically to celebrate lesser-known and emerging practitioners within the culture of architecture. As a group of active and emerging practitioners ourselves, we are not impartial! We are set-up to discuss and advocate the changes our culture most vitally needs.
The role involves working with the AF’s core staff team on a variety of established and new initiatives and plays an increasingly crucial role in the foundation's programme. It is defined by those who wish to take it on. Candidates should be energetic and engaged, with ideas to pursue and a commitment to inclusiveness. Alongside developing a new programme, the new team will be responsible for continuing to establish the Young Network as a tangible platform for others to engage with.
Applications must be received by Friday 19 February 2021. There will be an opportunity for you to meet the current team on Tuesday 09 February and ask questions or get feedback on your ideas. You can find out more about the current Young Trustees here.
Launch Event
Although our usual meet and greet in person can't take place this year, we will be hosting a digital launch event on Tuesday 09 February at 6.30pm. This will be an opportunity to meet the current Young Trustees, and ask any questions about the role and the application process. Register to attend here.
Application Process
To apply, send us a CV and answer a few questions, including outlining a project or idea you would bring to the role through our online application form.
The deadline for applications is Friday 19 February 2021.
Roles
We would like to recruit Trustees with a range of skills and interests, and have outlined suggested roles below. If you have a different skillset you feel would be of value please let us know in the application form. Alongside these roles, all young trustees will engage in developing and delivering a public programme defined by the interests of the group collectively.
Social Media
Responsible for the curation of existing platforms (Instagram and Facebook). Content should include publicising new events, profiling Young Trustees or Network members and their work alongside other inspirational people.
Graphics/Branding
Responsible for the visual identity of AFYN communication across platforms.
Event Logistics
Manages the communication and delivery of events that are programmed by the group. For the foreseeable future, these will be in digital spaces; you can see the Business as Usual series hosted by the Young Trustees last year.
Funding
The Young Trustee network is supported by the Architecture Foundation; but you can also devise ways to raise money through sponsorship, fundraising and events. The Trustee focusing on funding will need to establish goals: what could money be spent on and how might this help to develop the programme.
