Last weekend the group of young people taking part in The Architecture Foundation's Mapping the Elephant education programme collaborated with design collective The Decorators to host a closing party to celebrate the project, explore some of their work and discuss their findings. The event, which took place at The Hub on Walworth Road, also featured the launch of the group's Mapping the Elephant Publication as well as locally sourced food and games inspired by the urban environment and local community.
The project, which was supported by Lend Lease, began in December 2013 and worked with 10 local young people to investigate Elephant and Castle. Through a comparative fieldtrip to Barcelona and a series of workshops with artists, architects, writers, and designers, the group has explored the area’s built environment and discussed the challenges it faces.
