On a sunny March morning, AF Patrons and Sponsors enjoyed a special preview of the Chobham Academy, a new all-ages school designed by AHMM, located in the London 2012 Olympic Park.
The visit was hosted by AHMM's Philip Turner, Associate Director; with insightful contributions from Tim Leathes, Development Director, Urban and Civic; and community engagemente expert George Cochrane.
After a short walk through the Athletes' Village development site, the group enjoyed an extensive tour of the Academy, a dynamic civic focus for the area. Designed as part of a strong new urban grain whose pattern is reflective of existing London streets, a powerful drum form centres three connecting buildings. These define a space on a campus that is open, attractive, economical and sustainable.
