Open Call for Designers

The Architecture Foundation is launching an open call for designers to bring a fresh approach to our quarterly printed Bulletin.

The AF Bulletin is currently produced four times a year (in January, April, July and October), and outlines our exciting public programme of exhibitions, events, projects and competitions. The Bulletin also presents important information about our Supporters and how to become an AF Member.

The current format is a four to five page, double-sided A5 concertina booklet, printed in full colour. This format will remain for the foreseeable future.

The AF worked with Peter and Paul in 2009 to create a new visual identity for the organisation including a logo, colour palette, fonts etc. This identity is used across our external communications including our website, stationery and the Bulletin. Existing design elements such as logo and fonts within the Bulletin will remain in place for the Open Call, but layout of content and image treatment is open for interpretation.

Going forward, we would like to incorporate a new ‘About The AF’ section to include our mission statement and to list the members of our Board of Trustees. We would also like the cover to be more image-led and to reduce the overall text content by around 25%.

Please email a PDF portfolio (of no more than 5 pages) with the subject line, 'Bulletin Open Call', to joanne@architecturefoundation.org.uk by 17.00 on Friday 17 August, showcasing past projects you have worked on which you think demonstrate your ability and interest in this project. Links to websites or online portfolios will not be accepted.

The fee for the selected designer will be £375 per Bulletin. The next Bulletin will need to printed and distributed in time for the beginning of October 2012. We will shortlist a number of candidates for interview during w/c 20 August. Due to limited resources, we are only able to respond to shortlisted candidates.

The current AF Bulletin (pictured above) is available from our headquarters in Southwark.
