We are now open to applications from creative practitioners who are keen to take up a free studio space at South Kilburn Studios open from April 2011.
Over the next month The Architecture Foundation, together with the South Kilburn Neighbourhood Trust and Practice Architecture will be regenerating the site of 2a Canterbury Road in South Kilburn, London transforming this building into a series of studio spaces available to those in the creative industries. Tenants of South Kilburn Studios will pledge - in lieu of rent payments - to train a young person from the local area, helping them learn the skills of their profession and build a portfolio in their chosen trade.
We are now looking for tenants that have talents that would be useful and transferable to trainees aged 18-25. From fashion designers to film makers, from graphic designers to carpenters we want to hear from you if you are keen to take up residency at South Kilburn Studios.
There will an open day for prospective tenants to view the space available on 15 March. On the day you will have the chance to talk to the core team and ask any questions you may have.
Deadline for applications is 20 March 2011. Shortlisted applicants will be asked for an informal interview with all tenants being appointed by 1 April 2011. Once chosen tenants will be part of the process of selecting their own trainee from the local area.
