The Architecture Foundation, working in collaboration with the South Kilburn Neighbourhood Trust, has appointed up-and-coming young designers Practice Architecture to create an active new community space in South Kilburn, northwest London. Practice Architecture, will work along side the AF to transform a one storey portacabin block - a site that is currently awaiting redevelopment - into a dynamic community art space, hosting a variety of workshops and activities from Spring 2011.
Tenants of South Kilburn Studios, working across a variety of creative disciplines will - in lieu of rent payments - pledge to apprentice young people from the local area, running practical workshops and helping to build portfolios in trades from fashion and textiles to joinery and painting.
Keep an eye on the AF website for details of upcoming events, and opportunities to get involved in the project.
