This week, Faith in the City, a two-day symposium examining the relationship of the mosque to the contemporary Western city, drew capacity audiences to debate with architects from across Europe and the US.
The keynote lecture by Michel Abboud (SOMA), was particularly noteworthy as the first public presentation of visuals of the internal programme for the Park51 Islamic Cultural Centre (frequently misnamed 'the Ground Zero mosque').
The symposium proceedings, organised in partnership with Arts and Islam and OpenVizor will be available for online viewing, and edited into a publication, with expected release in early 2011. To be kept informed of symposium outcomes, please join the AF mailing list.
