On a sunny summer afternoon, AF Patrons, Benefactors and staff enjoyed a special preview of the Athletes Village development site in Stratford, East London.
The visit was hosted by Lend Lease's Rob Johnson, Project Director; Greg Deas, Principal Architect - Residential; Steven Hassel, Development Director; and Kura Perkins, Head of Communications for the Athletes Village.
After a short drive through surrounding neighbourhoods and into the immense development site, the group enjoyed the view from a viewing platform across the Village area as well as to the adjacent Olympic Stadium and the new transport links.
Greg Deas explained the strategic design approach to the project, which includes residential and educational buildings designed by architects from a panel selected through an international competition managed by the Architecture Foundation in 2007.
