With a boat for a mother and an airship for a father, AirDraft is a new and strange purpose-built inflatable performance venue designed by Thomas Randall-Page and Benedetta Rogers.
Built into a former industrial barge, this inflatable pavilion, winner of the 2018 Antepavilion commission, will be traversing the Regents Canal from Hackney Wick to Kings Cross, mooring at multiple locations along the way, hosting a festival of live events ranging from spoken word to jazz and from improvised comedy to theatre performances.
Between the 10th and the 18th of August AirDraft will be stopping at Hoxton Docks in Haggerston, Grow in Hackney Wick, The Rosemary Branch Theatre Pub in Islington, The Constitution in Camden and Granary Square in King's Cross.
The golden balloon-like pavilion with is undulating air-supported floor is an intimate yet dramatic cultural venue like no other and a unique environment to experience live performances.
AirDraft was the winning proposal of the 2018 Antepavilion competition organised by Shiva Ltd in collaboration with the Architecture Foundation and funded by Antepavilion.org.
