The Irish architect Tom de Paor’s practice has recently focused on two very remarkable projects. One is Pálás, a multi-storey art house cinema in Galway. Incorporating a shell of uninsulated in-situ concrete, this community-initiated project has undergone an unusually long gestation but is finally set to complete in 2017. de Paor’s other major project has been the development of a garden around his house in County Wicklow which incorporates the derelict remains of a farm which formerly occupied the site.
